Body Parts

"For in fact the body is not one member but many" 1 Corinthians 12:14.

There's a popluar trite saying "Grow where you're planted." Good advice---for a plant.

God calls the Church a Body. Because we can learn what the physical body does, we should be learning what the Body of Christ can do.

God says His church is a body, with many parts. The human body can preform many things. Physically we can do things with our hands. We walk with our feet. We talk with our mouths. We see with our eyes. We hear with our ears. We think with our brains. We love with our inner heart. We feel pain through nerves. We breath with our lungs. We pump blood through veins with the physical heart. We exert pressure with muscles. We digest with our internal organs.

There are atoms, cells, DNA, RNA, vessels, bones, minerals, water, air, and more that God made into the form that is us. God's design does millions of things, because God wanted it to do all those things. Everything that the body does brings God glory.

Praise the LORD!

It stands to reason, if God's physical design does that for which it was made, then the Body of Christ--His Church--should also do everything He designed it to do for His glory.

"But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased" 1 Corinthians 12:18.

God has given wisdom to doctors to transplant parts of the human body into other bodies in need. This also is God's doing, and He heals many in this way.

What if God wants to transplant a part of His body--the Church--to another body?

"For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones" Ephesians 5:30.

Let's say the Sunday School Teacher suddenly leaves and goes to another body and serves God there? What if an Elder begins plans to go to a church in another town? What if a family that has tithed and given generously suddenly takes their dozen children to another church?

If God places His people--His body parts--where He wills, why should the church they left complain that they sinned against the Body of Christ for leaving? Be careful of judging God's transplant as sin--God places the parts where He wills.

What if God suddenly takes the Pastor to teach in another pulpit?

The Pastor is not the Head of the body--Christ is the Head of the church. (Ephesians 1:22, Colossians 1:18,)

The Body has not died because the Pastor has gone. Christ is still the Life Sustaining God of His Church--His Body. The Body Parts may be transplanted to other places to serve, but God has done the transplanting because that's where He wants them to serve.

There is the possibility that the new body will reject the transplant, refusing the implant that God has brought. Then there is a sickness. The body and transplanted part suffer more harm. (III John)

If a Brother or Sister is transplanted to your church body, welcome them with love. Do not be the body that rejects the transplant, thus possibly damaging them and yourself also.

"Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind" Philippians 2:1, 2.

There are millions of things a human body can do--the one thing the Body of Christ needs above all else is to stay attached to the HEAD--Christ Jesus.
